Happy New Year and thank you for your willingness to “Speak Up for Your Library!”
I’m guessing that many of you received books for Christmas. Once you’re done with it, consider giving it to your local library if you’re not passing it on to a friend or family member. Even if they choose not to add it to the collection it will benefit the library through their booksale.
Did you get a gift card for Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or Half Price Books this Christmas? As you lounge by the fire in a post-holiday glow, remember book recommendation services from BadgerLink http://badgerlink.dpi.wi.gov/ NoveList and NoveList K-8 are fiction recommendation databases that you can use to find book lists, read-a-likes, and other fun stuff. Browse for books not just by subject but also by tone, writing style, pace, genre, and audience. NoveList is the perfect resource for finding your next book! Just go to Badgerlink http://badgerlink.dpi.wi.gov/ and click on Books (under Find).
And if you got a new e-reader (Kindle, Nook, etc.) you can check out the library’s ebooks. You can reach them two ways, through the library’s catalog http://catalog.winnefox.org/ or through the WPLC Overdrive page http://dbooks.wplc.info/
